We Believe ...
That God is the loving creator, intelligent designer, and ruler of the universe and beyond. He “is” and always has been and always will be, for eternity.
That Jesus was born, lived, and died for our sins. Why did God do it that way? To know the human experience, to astound us with miracles, to give us an example of how to live and treat others, and to demonstrate that He is 100% committed to us, even willing to suffer and physically die for us — that he really is God.
That the enemy Satan is real; that the enemy wants us to doubt God, question everything, and to be selfish, insecure, jealous, and afraid. We believe that we have the power, in Jesus’ name, to deny the enemy’s presence in our lives.
That no one is beyond redemption. Even if you’ve done some horrible things in your life, if you seek, God will find a way to get through to you. He will inspire you to forgive yourself for being led by the enemy; to make amends to those you hurt, and to put you on the narrow path.
That God is not a wish-granting fairy or genie in a bottle; that we will have troubles in life, and that in prayer we should acknowledge the everyday miracles around us with grateful hearts even in the toughest of times. When we make requests in prayer, it should be in full trust of God’s plan and purpose, even if it’s beyond our understanding.
That God is greater, all-knowing, and Almighty in ways that we cannot possibly fathom and that He knows the purpose of every life, long or short, and that ultimately we are not of this world; our time here is temporary.
That while we are here in this sinful world, we are meant to grow our servant hearts, to speak up and act against sin, to help others in need; to find our purpose serving others whether it’s through loving our families and communities, volunteer work, paid work, everyday kindness, or monetary contributions. In all of the ways He has given us, we are to serve Him by serving others.
That we humans create because God made us to create; he made us in His image, and He is the ultimate creator. And as humans we all end up creating things, whether it’s paintings, meals, databases, buildings, gardens, books, financial statements, babies, quilts, stories, highways, drama, software, etc. We are surrounded by man’s creations, good and bad. And that once we realize that what compels us to create is not self but God, we create more amazingly than ever before.
That God has a sense of humor and wants us to as well. There’s a reason we can see and appreciate the absurdities of life, and He designed us to laugh.
That God decided to not make us unthinking little robots and instead gave us free will; every day He gives us a choice to be still and tune in to Him and get to know Him.
That God wants us to disciple to others, gently and kindly; to not be embarrassed or shy about our faith; He wants us to wear our faith on our sleeve, knowing that the smallest thing could inspire someone to ask a question or Google something like, “what’s 2 Timothy 1:7?”
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
